The Planning Commission reviewed staff’s recommendation to invite proposals from a short list of firms to assist the city in rewriting its zoning ordinance to implement the newly adopted master plan. Staff reported nine responses to the city’s nationwide request for qualifications and suggested six firms for the next step.
Commissioners asked about the next steps, timing and RFP content; staff said it will draft RFP specifications and return to the commission for review before sending the materials to the selected firms. The commission adopted the resolution to request proposals from the six firms recommended by staff and asked that staff provide RFP language at the next meeting. Staff estimated a multi‑month procurement and hoped to have a contract in place by year‑end.
The vote advances the zoning rewrite procurement process; staff will return with the RFP language for the commission’s review.
