The Royal Oak Board of Zoning Appeals conducted routine business and decided several property appeals at its meeting.
Key outcomes: the board approved a variance for a wooden privacy fence that had been affixed to chain‑link posts (5–1); it postponed hearings on a Roseland Avenue addition and a Coolidge Highway demolition/rebuild so petitioners can update plans; and it approved a conditioned variance to allow a front‑yard driveway at 306 Potter Avenue, with the petitioner withdrawing a second driveway request after agreeing to shift and lengthen the proposed parking area.
Staff announced a joint work session with the Planning Commission scheduled for Tuesday, Sept. 9 at 6 p.m., which the board encouraged members to attend. The meeting adjourned following public comment and the board’s routine business.
