Harvey County commissioners voted Sept. 30 to approve an application for the 2025 Emergency Management Performance Grant (EMPG), a FEMA program that provides funding to states and local governments for emergency-management operations.
Mike, representing Harvey County Emergency Management, told the board Kansas receives EMPG funds from FEMA and passes program funding to local governments to reimburse eligible costs. He said the county uses EMPG dollars in part to fund the emergency-management director position and that the application is due Oct. 3. Program requirements such as training exercises and exercise plans were noted as conditions of the grant.
A motion to approve the EMPG application and authorize staff to sign the application carried on a voice vote.
