The joint organizational meeting of the Senate and House interim judiciary committees opened with adoption of committee rules dated 09/30/2025. Senator Thatcher moved that the Senate Interim Judiciary Committee adopt the proposed rules; the chair called a roll call and the motion passed. Vice Chair Chosin moved adoption for the House Interim Judiciary Committee and that motion also carried after a roll call.
Adopting the rules formally closed each committee’s organizational session and the chairs announced the start of a series of informational hearings scheduled for the day. The committees asked members to hold questions until presenters had completed remarks so the agenda could run on schedule.
No further action was taken under these agenda items beyond adopting the organizational rules. Committee staff said roll-call results and the adopted rule documents will be included in the official minutes and materials provided to members.
