Senator Meek said he supported several nominees but opposed confirming members of the Oregon Transportation Commission en bloc, calling some past testimony by commission members "negligent" and saying he "cannot ratify their confirmation." Senator Robinson likewise said she would vote against the block on procedural grounds while noting support for certain candidates, including Betsy Johnson.
Senator Solman defended confirming the nominees and said she had discussed accountability measures with Transportation Commission members who told her they are addressing oversight concerns and reforms were underway.
The clerk conducted a roll-call vote. The Senate recorded 22 ayes, 6 nays (named on the record) and 2 excused; the president declared the governor’s appointments confirmed en bloc.
Senator Bonham later offered a quick vote explanation, reiterating his process objection and urging greater transparency from the governor’s office about applicant pools and selection procedures.
