Saugerties Central School District board recesses to executive session on personnel matter, reconvenes only to adjourn

The Saugerties Central School District Board met in a special session July 22 and recessed into an executive session to discuss the employment history of a particular person, the board said at the meeting.

During the publicly noticed session, a motion was made and seconded to recess into executive session “for the purpose of discussing the employment history of a particular person.” Doctor Tillman moved the motion and Mr. Rose seconded it; the board answered in the affirmative on a voice vote.

Board members reconvened in open session later in the meeting. The chair stated the board would not vote on any matter after returning from executive session and would instead adjourn. A motion to reconvene open session was moved (recorded in the transcript as by Michelle Gramaglia) and seconded by Michael Meyer; the board voted to reconvene. A motion to adjourn then passed and the meeting ended.

No public votes or substantive public discussion of the personnel matter were recorded in the meeting’s public portion. The meeting included the routine roll call, recitation of the pledge of allegiance and a reading of the district’s mission/vision statement. The session was convened as a special meeting of the Saugerties Central School District Board on July 22, 2025.
