Carmel Central recognizes more than a dozen educators and teaching assistants with tenure

Brian Piazza, Carmel High School principal, introduced Kara Kreisberg, a world-language teacher praised for lesson creativity, use of technology such as Kahoot and Nearpod, and for prioritizing Spanish-language communication in class. He also recognized school psychologist Jessica Day for her work on educational testing, counseling and as a member of the Putnam Northern West BOCES regional crisis team.
At George Fisher Middle School, Dr. Newville (principal) introduced Clara Dorgan, Todd Wagner and Joseph Raniolo, citing their critical-thinking approaches, curriculum collaboration and efforts to support English-language learners. GFMS nominees also included Siobhan Roland, Camille Osterling and Kimberly Capizzi; the principal described their classroom routines, engagement strategies and collaboration with families and support staff.
At Matthew Patterson Elementary School, the principal introduced tenure candidates Michelle Velasco, Lisa DeSimone, Jennifer (Jen) Ryder, Catherine Tutoma and speech-language pathologist Rachel Marcotte, each lauded for differentiated instruction, family communication and contributions to building- and district-level committees.
Board members and attendees gathered for a group photo with the honorees after the presentations. President Orser thanked recipients and their families for their service to students.
The recognitions were ceremonial; no board action was required beyond the agenda reordering that placed the ceremony at the start of the meeting.
