Dallas SD 2 board combines finance and long-range planning committees, approves multiple appointments

"Those two really are hand in hand conversations," the director said when describing the rationale for the change.
By motion, the board approved Jeffrey Hernandez, Michael McCollum, Emma Jackson, Austin Marquis and Wendy Latta as members of the combined Finance and Long Range Planning Committee, with Stephen Burrows named as a non‑voting member because he lives outside the district. The motion passed unanimously.
The board also approved citizen appointments to the Citizens Oversight Committee (Walt Marquis, Bethany Henry, Sarah Croxford and Angela Mulkers) and added Catherine Gasker (transcript shows Gassner in one place) to the budget committee; both motions passed unanimously. Board members noted the budget committee is now full and discussed adding a representative from the Equity Advisory Committee to meet a statutory requirement.
Board members asked about attendance standards and whether the committees have maximum participant limits; staff replied there is no fixed maximum and that attendance is recorded in minutes, though those minutes do not currently provide an aggregated attendance rate across meetings.
The board did not change standing policy for committee renewals: committees are reconstituted annually and future adjustments to charges can be proposed by the combined committee and returned to the board for consideration.
