At the June meeting the Dallas School District 2 board approved several routine budget transfers and ratified a personnel contract.
The board approved a resolution authorizing a transfer of general fund dollars to the food service program (Resolution 24 25 10) to cover potential reimbursement shortfalls related to the Community Eligibility Provision under which students receive meals at no charge; the motion passed by voice vote. Staff explained the program’s reimbursements do not yet cover all costs and that the board must authorize a transfer in advance if needed.
The board also approved a bookkeeping resolution (Resolution 24 25 12) to transfer earnings from pooled school funds into the Facilities Repairs and Maintenance Fund (Fund 102). Staff said the transfer amount budgeted is $96,000 and that they had collected roughly "$81,000 or 80,000 a $110" with two collections remaining and anticipated timing by July 10; the resolution authorized a transfer not to exceed $96,000 and passed unanimously.
Finally, the board approved the Dallas Education Association collective bargaining agreement after the association ratified the contract. The superintendent praised the collaborative process; the motion passed with four votes in favor and one abstention. Zach said he would abstain for a potential ethical issue because "my wife's a teacher."
