A teacher (S3) said some students rely on iPads for real-time translation of documents and that the district "does not have the translation to get them the documents they need," adding that the lack of translated materials can leave multilingual students missing portions of instruction.
Several classroom instructors warned against assuming student digital fluency translates to media-literacy skills. Teachers said students commonly use AI-generated content and need explicit instruction on how to use digital tools responsibly; one teacher suggested a beginning-of-year media-literacy unit to teach citation, evaluation and safe use of tools.
Opinions on device strategy differed: some favored maintaining a one-to-one device model and using platforms such as Canvas, Apple Classroom and Google Classroom for continuity and monitoring; others urged limiting device use to when it supports learning objectives so students practice deeper thinking and writing. No district-wide procurement decision was made during the visit.
