Cascade Charter Township auditor delivers clean FY2024 opinion; board notes $1.4 million addition to fund balance

Mike Radeveld, partner with Radeveld Heffner LLC, presented Cascade Charter Township’s FY2024 audit at the June 24 meeting and reported a "clean audit opinion," indicating no material weaknesses were identified at the time of the presentation.
Radeveld walked the board through the government-wide statements (page 11 of the audit) and fund-level statements (starting on page 14), noting that overall the audit shows healthy financial performance. A board member highlighted that the township’s general fund added approximately $1,400,000 during 2024, while noting that some budgeted items carried forward into 2025 and therefore the figure requires context.
Staff said the township’s 2025 budget process is underway: department budget requests are due by June 30, personnel numbers are being compiled, and staff hope to present a draft budget to the board in August with a goal to approve it by September.
The audit presentation prompted no board action; Radeveld invited trustees to contact him for deeper review of the 111-page report if desired.
