Manager Smith told the board that K–12 students were exempted from permit and fee requirements and that the ordinance was updated to address canvassers. "They don't have to make the permit, but they have to register that they're out on the streets," Manager Smith said, describing a two-category registration approach for canvassers and noting the township will post registered canvassers on its website similar to its solicitor listings.
Manager Smith said the office had received a high volume of applications recently and that staff were consulting township attorneys to confirm which provisions apply in particular cases. He also said the township will maintain a do-not-knock registry and update the website to reflect the changes.
Trustee Shipley moved to adopt the resolution of adoption for the ordinance amendment; the clerk called the roll and each trustee voted "Yes." The motion carried.
