Cascade Township board adopts emergency operational plan to align with Kent County

Cascade Charter Township trustees voted unanimously June 24 to adopt a resolution endorsing the township’s Emergency Operational Plan (EOP), which staff said is designed to align local response with Kent County’s countywide plan.
Deputy Chief Stevens presented the plan, saying the fire department takes the lead in emergencies but that multiple departments — including building official, parks and facilities, human resources and the manager’s office — will support EOC operations. Staff said the county recently updated its emergency manager and adjusted wording and contact lists; the township’s plan includes updated position names and an implementation liaison to the county Emergency Operations Center (EOC).
Trustee questions focused on alternative EOC locations and preplanning for events; staff confirmed ongoing coordination with the county emergency manager and said they will continue to exercise tabletop plans tied to events. The resolution passed by roll-call vote; all trustees present voted yes.
Next steps: staff will finalize contact listings, confirm alternate EOC locations and schedule continued coordination and tabletop exercises with county partners.
