Summary
The Cascade Charter Township board voted by voice vote to approve the 2025 L-4029 tax-rate request form; finance staff noted an extra voted fire millage appears on the form as zero because the board will not levy it if voters approve a new fire millage.

The Cascade Charter Township Board of Trustees voted to approve its 2025 L-4029 tax-rate request form during its regular meeting.
Finance Director Lorna told trustees the L-4029 is an annual filing required of taxing units and explained the timing: "Every taxing unit that is, authorized or legally can levy millages must complete this form by September 30," and most units complete it in June to make July 1 tax bills; the township’s levies, however, are reflected for the December tax bill. She also pointed out that an extra voted fire millage is shown on the spreadsheet with a value of 0 because "that is the millage that the board said they would not levy if the voters approved the new fire millage."
Manager Smith deferred to Lorna before the board considered the item. Trustee Shipley moved to approve the L-4029 2025 tax-rate request and Treasurer Kerstange supported the motion. The board approved the request by voice vote; the clerk recorded "Aye" and the chair stated the motion carried.
The filing was described as routine but necessary to preserve the township’s authority to levy allowed millages. Lorna and staff noted several millages on the form that expire on 12/31/2027 and said staff will prepare projections and work sessions this year to discuss renewals and long-term strategy.
The board took no further action on amending levy amounts at the meeting; the motion on the L-4029 was strictly to adopt the form as presented.
The township clerk will file the completed L-4029 with the county per usual practice.
