Summary
Council granted Team Haverhill’s request to hold River Ruckus on Sept. 13 (noon–9 p.m.) at the Riverfront parking lot, approved fireworks, and waived certain fees; the council also approved a one‑day beer and wine license for the event. Both votes were unanimous.
The Haverhill City Council on July 22 approved a permit for the River Ruckus festival, scheduled for Sept. 13 (noon–9 p.m.) at the Riverfront parking lot and adjacent areas, and granted a separate one‑day beer and wine license for the event.
Organizer Joe LeBlanc (Team Haverhill) described planned activities including a car show, kids’ zone, community corner and fireworks at the festival’s close. He requested that police and fire detail costs be waived; councilors noted that while the city often waives the detail costs as a contribution, the departments are compensated for services. Council voted to waive fees and approve the permit (11–0) and then approved the one‑day liquor license with the same roll call (11–0).
LeBlanc provided a contact website for sponsorships and donations and said musical lineup details would be provided in August. Councilors and the mayor expressed support for the event and encouraged business and community participation.
