Perry Estates residents press planning board for completion timeline and safety fixes

Residents of Perry Estates told the Taunton Planning Board that multiple construction‑completion items remain unfinished and create safety and accessibility hazards. A resident representative read a letter documenting missing sidewalks, improperly installed curbing, an unsecured mailbox, sediment in a detention basin, overgrown vegetation around a hydrant, and other items the neighborhood says have been outstanding since the subdivision’s approval in 2020.

Board members asked staff to place the letter on the record and proposed inviting the developer to the next meeting to provide a completion timeline. The board chair said he would monitor the site and report back in two weeks; if work had not started, the board agreed to request the developer appear at the October meeting.

Residents said many households in the subdivision include young children and that incomplete sidewalks and sedimented basins create safety risks. The board and staff noted existing surety is in place and that staff and the city engineer can inspect outstanding items; the board asked residents to bring the neighborhood engineer to any follow‑up meeting so staff can review specifics.
