The Taunton Elections Commission voted on Tuesday to accept the resignation of Commissioner Frank Bedack and to make his resignation letter part of the public record.
Unidentified Speaker 4 reported that Commissioner Bedack submitted a resignation letter on Aug. 20 and that the commission and the mayor had been notified. "Commissioner BDAC did turn in this letter of resignation on August 20. We did receive it on the 20 fifth and sent it to the commission and the mayor," the speaker said.
Unidentified Speaker 3 moved to accept the resignation "with much thanks, gratitude, and appreciation for his service" and to make the letter part of the public record; Unidentified Speaker 2 seconded the motion and the commission approved it by voice vote.
The commission also considered a drafted letter of appreciation addressed to the departing commissioner that praised his "dedicated service as election commissioner for the city of Taunton over the past 3 years" and recognized his work to uphold election integrity. The letter, presented by staff and listing department members by name, was moved for approval by Unidentified Speaker 3, seconded by Unidentified Speaker 2, and approved for signature by the commission.
Commissioners offered brief personal remarks thanking Bedack for his work and confirmed the letter would be made part of the record. Unidentified Speaker 4 reminded the group that the mayor is the appointing authority for filling the vacancy.
