The Haverhill City Council voted to authorize the mayor to grant National Grid a permanent easement at 2 Sherwood Drive to install, operate and maintain underground electrical service for the new Sherwood Drive pumping station.
DPW Director Robert Ward told the council the new pumping station sits adjacent to the old station and will require a relocated underground service rather than reusing the previous connection. ‘‘The new one is located right beside the old one... we’re not reusing the old service, so we’re relocating the service to the new building. It’s an underground service. It’s under construction now,’’ Ward said.
The council approved the order by roll call 10 yeas, 0 nays, 1 absent. The authorization gives the mayor authority to execute necessary easement documents and any ancillary agreements required to effectuate the grant.
