Toledo Public Schools on Tuesday reviewed a proposed $713,000,000 district budget for the 2025–26 school year, district officials said during a board meeting and accompanying video presentation.
The presentation, introduced by district staff, said the district projects about $365,000,000 in general fund revenue and anticipates roughly $397,000,000 in general fund expenditures for fiscal year 2026. "This year's budget reflects our commitment to providing innovative, high quality educational opportunities for every student," the presentation stated.
District materials cited several funding sources: local property taxes (helped by a 5.8-mill combination levy approved in November 2024), state aid under the fair school funding formula, and federal revenue such as Medicaid reimbursement. The video emphasized that the general operating fund is the largest share of district spending and that 84% of projected general fund expenditures will support salaries and benefits.
The presentation described priorities including early childhood education, career-technical and STEM programs, multi-tiered systems of support, and plans to realign resources to focus on student success. Officials said the budget process involved districtwide collaboration and that staff will monitor performance and adjust allocations during the year as needed.
The review was presented for information; the board did not adopt the budget at the June 24 meeting. Earlier in the same meeting the board approved its consent agenda (items 6.01–6.37) by roll call.
Next steps for the budget were described as ongoing monitoring and community engagement; the presentation said the district will continue listening to stakeholders to guide future planning.
