Director reports $334,000 in IDOC grant funds and program caseloads; juvenile center adds nurse

Miss Holly presented the board with financial balances as of July 31: an IDOC grant fund balance of $334,215.64, a project income fund balance of $451,923.45, collected project income from April through July of $401,899.73 and a CTP fund balance of $26,317.87.

Miss Garner provided program metrics for July 31, reporting 64 males and 13 females enrolled; 4 participants on CTP; 162 on GPS; 2 on SCRAM; 16 on SCRAMx. She said staff released 35 participants, removed 17 and processed 45 intakes during the reporting period. Miss Garner also described free staff trainings provided by the Indiana Department of Corrections.

A juvenile center representative said the center hired a nurse for the first time in four years, is averaging about 13 youths in a 24-bed facility, finished a roof replacement, plans to start a new gym and recently installed a secure transport van. The representative said staffing levels are the highest since the COVID-19 pandemic.

Board members heard brief updates on problem-solving court caseloads and facility repairs (urinal repairs pending parts, vehicle cage order in process) and were told a kitchen renovation quote covered only limited equipment and excluded cabinetry, flooring and electrical upgrades; staff said they are seeking additional quotes and anticipate a later start date if contractors remain booked.

The board took no formal policy action on these program or facilities items during the meeting.
