Park staff summarized a draft bicycle and pedestrian master plan emailed by Mindy Smith and discussed at the Aug. 5 meeting. Jeremy said the plan proposes roughly 317 miles of bike and pedestrian connections: about 227 miles of paved shoulders (72% of the plan), 79 miles of shared‑use (separated) paths, and roughly 10 miles of advisory or low‑volume road routes.
Staff described paved shoulders as a cost‑effective approach that could be implemented during regular county road repaving and urged coordination with the highway department to add paved shoulders where repaving occurs. Jeremy said some plan elements currently misattribute administrative responsibility (for example, listing the county parks as an administrator for city trails) and that staff will correct those items.
Jeremy said he will invite Antero (the consultant) to present a PowerPoint at the next meeting so board members can review marked‑up copies and consider adoption into the county master plan at a future date. No formal board action to adopt the plan occurred at the meeting.
