At its August 7 meeting the LaPorte County Alcoholic Beverage Commission approved routine license renewals and took several administrative actions by unanimous voice vote.
Board 1 approved automatic renewals for Potawatomi Country Club; Pali’s Restaurant and Pub; Galveston’s Steakhouse; CVS Pharmacy #6481; Panini Panini; Swells LLC; and Handy Spot Liquor after a motion and second from board members. The motion passed on a voice vote.
The board discussed permit RH4630009 (Crawford’s Puppineering), which staff reported is in escrow and has shown no recent alcohol service activity. Staff advised the board the permit is in its fifth year of escrow and will expire on November 18, 2025 if the location does not open; the board voted to renew the permit for one year so the license does not lapse unnoticed.
The commission also approved the minutes for the July meeting and adjourned board 1. Board 2 subsequently met and approved automatic renewals for American Legion #83, Family Express #58, and Grandma’s House of Pancakes for two years, approved its minutes, and adjourned.
Outcomes at a glance (recorded on the meeting record): - Automatic renewals (Board 1): Approved (voice vote). - RR4642491 (Shady Creek Winery): Approved (see separate article). - RH4630009 (Crawford’s Puppineering): One-year renewal approved (voice vote). - Minutes (July): Approved (voice vote).
Most motions were recorded as passed by voice vote with no roll-call tally in the transcript.
