LaPorte County board approves new liquor license for local eatery owner Frank Wolford

The LaPorte County Alcoholic Beverage Board voted to approve a new liquor-license application from Frank Wolford for the business identified as Bar Barn and Barrel/Corner Pub after Mr. Wolford described his planned operations and the board clarified inspection and manager-registration requirements.
Wolford told the board his concept will include breakfast service and a full bar with home-cooked food. "It's gonna be for breakfast in the morning. It's a bar that'll be with, good homemade food and breakfast will run on Thursday from 7 to 10 in the morning from Thursday to Sunday," he said. He told the board general hours would be about 10 a.m. to 1 a.m., varying by demand.
Board members noted the application filed with Indianapolis lacked a floor plan and asked Wolford to submit one. State-excise staff said the county would hold the license in escrow pending inspection: "it will sit there until the inspection is done by me. And if it's not satisfactory, he can't get the permit out of escrow," a staff member said.
The board also discussed who would manage and staff the operation. Wolford said his son Mike would run the back room and that other family members would help; he clarified that charges referenced by the board in a 2021 incident had been dismissed and would not prevent Mike from working at the establishment.
Health department staff noted they had not previously known who Mr. Wolford was and that he now has the department's contact information to arrange inspections. Following those assurances, a motion to approve the application was moved and seconded and the board voted in favor ('Aye').
The board approved the application subject to the standard inspection and manager-registration processes; the license will not be released from escrow until required inspections and paperwork are complete.
