LaPorte County board approves routine liquor-license renewals, continues Shady Creek application

Board members on Board 1 moved and seconded a package of routine renewals that included Zorn Brew Works LLC (9th Street, Michigan City), Hampton Inn (Tashi Hospitality Inc., Frontage Road, Michigan City), Dow Gem Corp (Dollar General store #21111, LaPorte), BJS Dining Entertainment (The Hanger Bar and Grill), Hudson Lake Tavern LLC (New Carlisle), Looking Glass Investments (The Cellar Door, Michigan City), and AZM Coffee Inc. (Lakeshore Cafe, Michigan City). Speaker 3 moved to recommend renewal and Speaker 4 seconded; the board voted in favor ('Aye').
The board also opened application RR4642491 for Shady Creek Vineyard LLC (Tryon Road, Michigan City). Staff reported that the required orange public notice sign had not been posted within the 10-day window. Board members said staff had contacted the owner and the board voted to continue the matter to the Aug. 7 meeting to allow the applicant to meet the posting requirement.
No fines, conditions or additional enforcement actions were announced on the renewals; the board handled the package as routine business and moved on to new applications.
Action taken: motion to approve renewals (motion moved and seconded; vote recorded as 'Aye'). Motion to table Shady Creek and continue to Aug. 7 (motion moved and seconded; motion passed).
