The resident (Unidentified Speaker 6) said rumors were circulating in the neighborhood and asked whether the city had received any formal paperwork: “So poking around, trying to find a little bit of information… rumors are that there's gonna be a dollar store.”
Unidentified Speaker 1 replied that the city had received no formal submission for that location and that staff had not received documentation showing a Dollar Tree or another tenant had applied. He explained the approval path and constraints: “Before that happens or anything goes in that space, that will come before the planning commission. There has to be a site plan review for that. There has to be adequate parking for whatever the use is… we don't have any documentation.”
Staff noted that under the property’s current BD zoning a Dollar Tree could be allowed “by right” if an applicant meets all site‑plan, parking and building‑code requirements, but reiterated that no application had been filed and that residents within 300 feet would receive notice when a site‑plan application is submitted.
The commission did not take any formal action on the potential reuse during the meeting; staff advised residents to monitor posted agendas and the meeting packet when documents appear online a week prior to hearings.
