Hardin County board approves audits, personnel moves and joining opioid settlement

Daryl also recommended an acknowledgment letter to authorize last year’s contractor, CLA, to release work papers to Baker Tilly; the board authorized Jolene to sign that letter.
On legal matters, Daryl told the board there was a limited window to join a Sandoz opioid settlement. He said the county would be eligible to receive a share of settlement funds but did not provide an estimate of Hardin County’s share. The board voted to join the settlement and authorized the county attorney to execute any necessary documents.
The board approved several personnel items by voice vote: end‑of‑season status for seasonal conservation employees (Emma Clinton, Tate Miller, Isabelle Harms); discharge of Brenda Bloom from the sheriff’s department (last day 08/03/2025); the hiring of Viviana Fuentes as a correctional officer (effective 08/07/2025 at $22.23 per hour); and the discharge of correctional officer Todd Raich (last day 07/18/2025). Board members also approved minutes from the Aug. 6, 2025 meeting and the claims docket dated Aug. 13, 2025.
A staff member provided a brief update on property taxes, saying statements had not yet been mailed but would go out in August. The meeting concluded after a motion to adjourn was carried by voice vote.
