Hardin County supervisors approve trail addendum, utility permit and personnel change; set closed session

The board approved an addendum to the Iowa River’s Edge Trail agreement covering the Eldora-to-Gifford construction portion and bridges; staff said the document had previously been presented in May and only required final review. Supervisors also approved utility permit UT-2025-17 for Alliant Energy to install approximately 2,975 feet of 2-inch gas line within the Main Street right-of-way.
The board acknowledged turned-over fees for the sheriff’s office for June and July and accepted the auditor’s and recorder’s reports for July. A change of status for Michelle Purvis was approved, adding duties as insurance/safety coordinator to her accounts-payable responsibilities with a new rate of $21.90 per hour.
During other business and public comment, a resident raised concerns about a photograph displayed in the meeting room and identified the county maintenance employee (Dave Corcoran) as the person who hung it. A resident identified as Rick criticized courthouse security screening, saying the process made him feel devalued. Wind developer Nick Brown announced an open house about a Hardin County project on August 21 at Albright’s Bluff and invited supervisors to attend.
