The Eldora representative recommended an interest-free loan with terms not to exceed five years, and said the last payment could be forgiven if the center met timely obligations. “I recommend no interest and terms not to exceed 5 years,” the representative said. Board members signaled support and moved to direct Daryl (staff) to draft the loan documents mirroring previous Hubbard loan agreements; the motion was seconded and approved by voice vote.
Board discussion emphasized childcare’s role in supporting the local workforce and described the project as urgent because the center completed purchase and remodeling (Phase 1) but still needs a safe parent drop-off area (Phase 2) before the school year. The loan agreement will be returned to the board for final approval after staff prepares the documents.
