Hardin County tables 24-hour incident-reporting policy after staff presentation

Speaker 3, speaking from the safety committee, described examples of delayed reports and the investigative difficulties they create, saying the change would allow timely investigation: “employees will report within 24 hours and supervisors and department heads will report within 24 hours of receiving that.” Speaker 3 urged that unreported incidents can later prevent effective investigation.
After discussion, Speaker 2 moved to table the item and have counsel review prior to evaluations; the motion was seconded and the board voted to table the proposal.
What’s next: Counsel review and a future agenda item are expected before any formal adoption of the proposed reporting requirement.
