Hardin County approves routine agenda items, abatement resolutions and schedules tax-levy hearing

The motion to authorize the consent order was made by Speaker 2, seconded by Speaker 3, and approved by voice vote.
The board approved Resolution 2025-06, described in the meeting as a court-ordered abatement for 1806 Custer in Iowa Falls, after a roll call; Speaker 5 moved and Speaker 2 seconded. The board also approved Resolution 2025-07, another court-ordered abatement for a property listed as 1818 Moxylvania, following a roll call vote.
The board set the public hearing on the proposed property tax levy for March 26 at 1:00 p.m. in the March conference room after Speaker 2 moved to set the date and Speaker 3 seconded. The hearing date was approved by voice vote.
Officials acknowledged the sheriff’s report and the auditors’ monthly report for February. The board also approved a change of status to hire Kendall Laneman as an environmental health specialist at an annual salary of $67,000, effective March 17, 2025, with pay reviews at six and 12 months; Speaker 2 moved, Speaker 5 seconded, and the motion carried by voice vote.
Less substantive items included a public reminder about legitimate online tax-payment reminder emails and a brief exchange about motor carriers and roadway safety during poor conditions. The meeting adjourned after a motion to adjourn carried by voice vote.
