Board members moved and seconded each item and approved them by voice votes. The fiscal sponsorship was described as a pass-through arrangement for grant funds; the sponsoring action does not obligate county matching funds or immediate county expenditures. County staff explained the city’s petition to take ownership of the Garrel property would allow the city to take the parcel free of unpaid taxes in order to address nuisance conditions.
Personnel actions approved included the hiring of Elijah Nichols as a permanent part-time correction officer at $21.79 per hour (effective 01/13/2025) and approval of a full-time correctional officer position at $21.79 per hour with an effective date backdated to 10/01/2024. The board also reported Board of Health leadership changes and announced public-facing items including a Feb. 7 fundraiser with $75 tickets for a new station effort.
