The board also approved a $25,000 pre‑allocation from second‑district discretionary funds for a countywide gun buyback program. County staff described the program (Brookhurst Community Center, Anaheim): anonymous weapon turn‑ins, $300 gift card for assault weapons and $100 gift cards for other operable firearms, and destruction of collected weapons. Supervisors said the program aims to remove unwanted firearms from circulation; a larger countywide buyback was tentatively scheduled for Nov. 8.
On Item 35, the board opened a public hearing to consider an ordinance amending fees for coroner removal and storage. No members of the public responded to the hearing; the board moved and carried the item on first reading (transcript reports the motion carried). The ordinance language on fees in the transcript states a revised fee from $318 to $313 for coroner removal/keeping of bodies.
Several of these items were unanimous or carried without public opposition, and staff were authorized to execute contracts or payments where required.
