Bluffdale city staff presented a resolution to authorize relocation of a single-family dwelling from 2523 West Spencer Crest Drive to 14424 South 2200 West. Staff said the move must comply with city zoning setbacks, building and demolition permits are on file, required inspections and an encroachment permit/traffic-control plan will be required, and a bond for potential public-improvement damage (curb, gutter, sidewalk) is anticipated.
Owner representative Scott Peterson described technical details: the house has experienced termite and irrigation damage and will be cut into two sections for transport; movers will prep the building for about three weeks and expect to move the halves on two separate days, then reassemble the home on the destination lot (a nonconforming legal lot). Peterson said most of the route will cross private pasture the owner controls; the team has completed asbestos abatement and submitted demolition permits scheduled for the twentieth of the month and planned the move right after Labor Day. Staff confirmed neighbor outreach and some tree trimming and temporary removal of a streetlamp and sign will be required.
Council member Aston moved to approve Resolution 2025-74; Council member Wilding seconded. The council conducted a roll-call vote; members present voted in favor and the mayor announced the motion passed.
What happens next: city staff will coordinate encroachment permitting, confirm bonding or other protections for public improvements, and notify neighbors about exact demolition and move dates; staff and the owner said they will provide dates to the council in advance if schedule adjustments are needed.
