Bluffdale City Council on June 25 approved Resolution 2025-564, the city's final budget adjustment for fiscal year 2024–25. Staff said the adjustments are timed to the fiscal year-end and include a proposed $2,000,000 contribution to the capital projects fund as a placeholder to ensure the city's fund balance remains within state-mandated percentages.
Staff explained that the $2,000,000 figure is an end-of-year placeholder because the exact ending fund balance will not be known until August; the transfer authority gives staff flexibility to make the distribution once final numbers are available. A staff member summarized the constraint: budgeted amounts act as caps and cannot be exceeded, meaning transfers depend on available funds in the general fund.
The public hearing for the final budget adjustment received no speakers. Councilmember Lord moved approval of Resolution 2025-564; Councilmember Crockett seconded. Roll-call votes recorded "Yes" from Mayor Pro Tem Aston, Councilmember Wilding, Councilmember Crockett, Councilmember Lord and Councilmember Austin. The motion passed and the resolution was adopted.
Staff said they would finalize exact transfer amounts after the fiscal-year close and return any required updates to council per budgetary rules.
