Supervisors handle routine appointments, bills and road updates at July meeting

At the July 14 meeting the Van Buren County Board of Supervisors approved several administrative and housekeeping items.
The board reappointed Bob Clark to the veterans affairs commission for a three‑year term and appointed Amanda Flannery as full‑time dispatcher effective July 9. Christie Briseley and Amanda Flannery were appointed as process servers to assist the sheriff's office when deputies are unavailable. The board authorized cancellation of duplicate check No. 47587 and approved payment of county bills as presented.
Staff and supervisors also received operational updates: a motor grader returned to service after a rebuild, the county applied for a Safe Streets and Roads for All grant for segments on V64 and related intersections, and the county engineer submitted exception requests to the Department of Transportation for overweight permits on certain county roads. The public‑health coordinator reported the Safe & Healthy Kids fair would move to the middle/high school later in the month and provided the county’s current opioid settlement receipt total of $70,177.13, with $24,124 spent to date.
The meeting concluded with scheduling items and routine road‑maintenance work orders; the board adjourned at about 11:19 a.m.
