HASTINGS, Neb. — The Hastings City Planning Commission voted unanimously on Sept. 16 to approve a conditional-use permit allowing Timmy’s RVs LLC to operate RV sales, storage and repair at 910 West L Street. Staff explained that an ordinance amendment enacted in November 2021 requires a conditional-use permit for that type of business in the area.
Kevin Cubel, development services director, told the commission the applicant purchased existing buildings on the site and plans to continue sales, service and storage within the existing structures. "So nothing's really changed since Dieckman's trailers has been there," he said, summarizing the staff view that the use fits surrounding commercial and industrial zoning and would generate minimal additional traffic.
Staff recommended approval with a condition that the business begin operations within 100 days of issuance of the conditional-use permit. Commissioner Craig moved to approve application 2025-400; Commissioner Lou seconded. Craig praised the investment, noting Dyckmans had been a long-standing local business and saying he was glad the new owner was keeping part of the site active. The commission approved the permit 6 to 0.
The approval is subject to the stated operating deadline and standard permit compliance.
