Chatham reports construction progress, Energy Star certifications and recent evacuation drills

Peter provided the board with a facilities and construction update, reporting that metalwork at Chatham Middle School will be completed when schools are closed, that recent brickwork near the auditorium is done, and that capital projects are being prepared for inclusion in the 2026–27 budget.

The district credited contractor support and Synergistic for helping two schools — Chatham High School and Southern Boulevard — achieve Energy Star certification for 2025. Peter also reported that semiannual evacuation drills were completed on Oct. 14–15 at the high school, middle school and elementary schools named in the transcript.

Committee and finance discussions later in the meeting noted ongoing assistant business administrator interviews and benefits discussions; the board asked few questions about facilities at this meeting and moved on after the brief update.
