Planning staff said they received a single call from Crane Trust asking whether an asphalt plant would be installed; the application did not request an asphalt plant. Sean Bonds, representing Moss Paving of Hastings, told the board the Waterview site supplies gravel and does not operate an asphalt plant there: "We aren't putting an asphalt plant there. That's just for gravel." Bonds said the site has not generated complaints and that the company supplies wholesale material to local asphalt contractors.
Board members asked about retail sales and traffic; Bonds said the operation mainly supplies asphalt companies in Grand Island and does not run frequent small retail loads. After public testimony the board voted to close the hearing and then adopted the renewal by resolution (vote recorded as unanimous in the hearing process).
