The Frostburg Historic District Commission on Sept. 8 reported two administrative approvals and held scheduling and site-cleanup discussions.
Staff told the commission that two administrative approvals were issued this month for in-kind shingle roof replacements at 60 South Broadway and 65 South Bridal. No design changes beyond like-for-like shingle replacement were described.
Commissioners discussed the October meeting date because the regular meeting conflicted with the Columbus Day holiday. Members suggested moving to Tuesday, Oct. 14, but staff warned a mayor/council work session may be scheduled in the same room; the commission did not finalize a new date during the meeting.
On demolition, commissioners asked for an update on the former Apatit site. Staff confirmed the building had been taken down and agreed to check with Hayden about cleanup and whether salvaged bricks or other materials might be available for the museum or other reuse. Staff offered to report back with any information.
The commission also made a few observational notes about a wooden front fence at a nearby property and façade boarding on another house; no enforcement actions were recorded.
