Neosho council approves multiple ordinances, accepts bridge funds and awards rescue-equipment bid

At its June meeting the Neosho City Council approved a package of ordinances and agreements — including a police/fire facility design contract, conveyance of surplus land to the school district, a $100,000 MoDOT apportionment for a bridge and an engineering agreement for an aquatic park — and accepted a local bid for rope-and-rescue equipment.
The Neosho City Council on June 1 approved a series of routine and capital items, voting unanimously on each item except one special-event request that passed 4–1.
The actions taken included approving an agreement with Police Facility Design Group PA for architectural planning and design of a combined police and fire facility (bill 2025-26); declaring roughly 0.87 acres along Washington Street surplus and conveying it back to the Neosho School District so the district can pursue demolition (bill 2025-29); and accepting a Missouri Highways and Transportation Commission apportionment agreement that brings up to $100,000 toward the Color Street bridge project (bill 2025-31). Council also approved a professional engineering agreement with Water's Edge Aquatic Design LLC for the Neosho Aquatic Park not to exceed $474,000 (bill 2025-32).
On procurement, staff recommended and council accepted the local vendor FeltFire's bid for rope and rescue equipment (recommended price in packet: $12,812.25) to support local warranty service. Council also approved a resolution to participate in the Blue Shield program for the police department, which staff said opens additional grant opportunities and supports officer wellness.
Several items were approved by 5–0 roll call votes; the special-event closure for Oct. 11 (the all-school reunion) and temporary alcohol permission passed 4–1 (see separate article). City staff said votes will be recorded in the minutes and the mayor is authorized to execute the approved agreements as required.
What happens next: Contract documents, budget amendments and any required second readings (where noted) will be returned to council for final execution and implementation.
