Summary
The Homelessness Planning Council selected Lizzie Goddard to serve as its delegate to the Barnes Housing Trust Fund Commission after two candidates were nominated and a roll-call vote; Angie Lawless received three votes and Goddard was elected with the remaining votes.
At Wednesday’s meeting the Homelessness Planning Council voted to send a delegate to the Barnes Housing Trust Fund Commission and elected Lizzie Goddard after a short candidate forum and roll‑call vote.
Angie Hubbard, housing director with Metro Planning, described the Barnes Fund as a grant program “for the preservation and creation of affordable housing” and said the commission’s work focuses on capital projects rather than service awards. Hubbard said the fund can play a role in developing permanent supportive housing and that a representative from HPC would be expected to act as a liaison between the council’s priorities and Barnes Fund decisions.
Three candidates were listed as having expressed interest; Michelle Southern withdrew her candidacy. Lizzie Goddard outlined her background as a strategic consultant who works on housing systems and permanent supportive housing projects, and Angie Lawless briefly offered her qualifications. The council nominated both Lawless and Goddard and held a roll‑call. According to the chair’s count, Lawless received three votes and Goddard received the remaining votes and was selected as the HPC delegate.
Next steps: Goddard will receive onboarding from Barnes Fund staff and the council said it will work with the new delegate to define a feedback loop so the representative can bring pertinent updates back to the HPC.
