Laconia board rescinds two internet procedures, advances IT/data-governance policies for first reading

The Laconia School Board approved motions to rescind policy EGA and the accompanying EGA-P procedure and advanced multiple IT and data-governance-related policies for a first reading.

Policy committee members told the board these rescinds are appropriate because policy 'GB E F' and 'GB E F-R' (approved at the prior meeting) now cover the district’s needs. Speaker 6 summarized the recommendation: "We have 2 policies that we want to rescind, and 1 is EGA... and EGA-P... can be rescinded because policy GB E F was approved at the last meeting." The motions to rescind were moved and passed by the board during the action items.

Separately, the committee presented three policies for first read to support the district’s data governance plan and the IT department’s required reporting, citing New Hampshire School Boards Association sample language. Speaker 6 said the intent is to "help support the district's data governance plan" and gave examples of authorized affiliates (for example, third-party hosts such as the Alma student information system and Weebly for websites) who need authorization to store or host district data.
