City staff presented monthly operational and development highlights at the Sept. 16 meeting.
John Strukoff, director of operations, said the city held 26 safety meetings in August, transferred or sold seven cemetery lots and received 11 records requests. He reported 75 building permits issued in August (35 residential inspections), 69 permits closed out and 271 inspections completed. Strukoff gave updates on local construction: single-family builds in Woodland Heights (Ivy League, ELS), Rowles building in Pinckney Ridge and Walnut Hollow, Dynamic Contracting in Park Hill, multifamily work in Creekside Development and the school site progressing with footings and steel.
Finance Officer Megan Welder reviewed July financials, noting a roughly $122,000 shortfall in water and sewer fund revenues tied to usage timing and a $392,000 variance in 'Other' due to grant timing; she flagged police overtime and vehicle repairs as drivers of a $76,000 overage in the general fund. Chief Larry Eller briefly reminded residents about fall festival parking and safety guidelines.
Board members asked for clarification on the Walnut Hollow build-out; Strukoff said previously approved plat counts remain in effect but did not provide a new total.
