After a public hearing required by the Williams Act, the Los Gatos‑Saratoga Union High School District board on Sept. 18 approved Resolution 25‑26‑05 confirming that students will have sufficient board‑adopted instructional materials for the 2025‑26 school year.
Adam Minyard, introduced to the board as director of continuous improvement and accountability, reviewed the Williams settlement and the district’s verification process for the four Williams subjects (math, social studies, science and English, including English‑language development). He said staff had found one insufficiency: students in the AP Physics course did not have physical textbooks in hand and staff purchased 150 physical AP Physics textbooks at a total cost of about $9,000 plus shipping to remedy the gap. “We purchased 150 textbooks at a total cost of $9,000 plus shipping,” Minyard said.
No members of the public spoke on the record for the hearing. With no additional public comment, a board member moved to adopt the resolution including Appendices A and B; the motion was seconded and approved by roll call with Vice President Singh, Clerk Bond and Trustee Davies recorded as voting yes. President Chen and Trustee Mortensen were absent.
The resolution completes the district’s annual compliance step with Education Code requirements for instructional materials and triggers the staff certification that adopted materials exist in sufficient quantities for in‑class and at‑home use. The board will file the resolution and related verification documents per the district’s standard practice.
