The board tabled first reading of an ordinance to authorize a contract with Lexipol LLC for creation and administration of a personnel policy and procedure manual after the fire chief urged delay to resolve one outstanding contract point and to give members more time to review the proposal.
"I'm gonna recommend that you, table that motion this evening for 2 reasons," the chief said. He said one contract point required clarification and that the city’s labor attorney had been consulted; he described the current city policy manual as "well out of date" (last fully updated in 2016) and said Lexipol offers ongoing review and monthly training bulletins. "This is a very economical way for us to make sure that our policy and procedure manual stays up to date," the chief said.
The mayor entertained a motion to table first reading of the ordinance (identified in the transcript as bill number '40 57'), members moved and seconded the motion, and the board approved the motion to table by voice vote. The chief invited board members to see a demonstration of the system if they wished.
