County leaders honor fall state champion student‑athletes from Central Ohio schools

Speakers included Linda Logan (Greater Columbus Sports Commission) and Doug Ute (Ohio High School Athletic Association), followed by coaches and seniors from Bexley (Amaya Boles, girls singles tennis), Columbus Academy (girls golf champion Eva Lim and coach Maggie Freytag), Thomas Worthington (field hockey), New Albany (boys soccer), Olentangy Liberty (football), and Bishop Watterson (multiple teams). Coaches recounted season highlights and several student athletes briefly described future college plans.
Remarks emphasized teamwork, academic achievement, and the life lessons athletics provide. The board split recognitions into two groups to accommodate a large crowd and concluded the ceremonial portion with photo opportunities before moving to the regular agenda.
