The mayor said council will not rush the pickleball decision and described an upcoming retreat intended to refine vision and mission language from a strategic-plan exercise earlier in the year. As a next step, Hawkes said the city intends to pursue a comp-plan adjustment to better suit the north side of "Victor Kovar" (as stated in the meeting) and to initiate planning stages for a community or recreation center; staff and planning commissioners will work in parallel on that effort.
Hawkes''s remarks were brief and largely ceremonial; he closed by asking whether commissioners had any questions and thanking them again for their service. Commissioners responded with appreciation for the mayor''s attendance.
