Ramsey County proclaims September 2025 Workforce Development Month, spotlights Workforce Solutions staff

The Ramsey County Board of Commissioners on Tuesday proclaimed September 2025 as Workforce Development Month, honoring county Workforce Solutions staff and partner agencies for their work connecting residents to employment and training.
Katrice O'Neill, who introduced herself as the new-ish director of Workforce Solutions, thanked county leadership and state partners and said the proclamation recognizes the people who support job seekers. "Workforce development month is a time to recognize the many contributions of our staff and partners who dedicate their time daily to supporting the needs of job seekers," O'Neill said.
The proclamation, read aloud to the board, listed the role of Ramsey County Workforce Solutions in preparing workers and building employer partnerships. It also cited a county figure that "more than 54,624 people employed in the public sector in Ramsey County" contribute to local prosperity.
Board members attending offered brief remarks of appreciation for Workforce Solutions and praised partners including the Minnesota Department of Employment and Economic Development and the county's Workforce Innovation Board. Several staff and partner representatives — including DEED and local CareerForce staff — were introduced at the meeting.
The proclamation is ceremonial and does not create new policy or funding. Board members said the recognition aims to raise local awareness of workforce programs and to maintain support for employer partnerships and services for job seekers, including residents receiving MFIP and other supports.
The board moved on to other business following the recognition.
