Isanti County approves switch from Oracle back to Central Square (LATG) after operational problems; anonymous donor offers half the upfront payment

Isanti Countys board approved a one-year contract with Central Square Solutions to restore the countys prior LATG records/dispatch system after the county experienced operational problems with an Oracle implementation.

Sheriff Wayne Seiberlake told the board the county continues to experience issues with Oracle that affect the jail, dispatch and patrol operations and that Central Square would allow the county to revert to a previously used system. "That's $83,453.04," the sheriff said when presenting the total renewal cost. He told the board an entity, which requested anonymity, has offered a targeted donation of $43,453.04 to cover the first half of the payment directly to Central Square.

Seiberlake said the county would likely be under two contracts into next year while Oracles contract remains in force until its expiration; he emphasized the county owns the data and that staff are seeking clarity from Oracle on what an export would include. The sheriff said staff expect to complete the transition by about the 10th of the month if the board approved the contract at the meeting.

Commissioners moved and approved the transition and the Central Square contract. Board members discussed budget implications for 2026 because renewal with Central Square would raise recurring costs compared to a lower-cost option, and the board asked staff to ensure current budgeting reflects the choice and to follow up with the county attorney on contractual and data-retrieval issues.

Next steps: the sheriff will sign the contract and staff will coordinate the technical transition and budget planning for next year.
