The board accepted retirement notices from Mark Poretta and Phil Forshee and recorded resignations including Scott Steinitz and Bridal Lawson. The superintendent asked trustees to approve multiple personnel items including hiring Teresa (paraprofessional, effective Jan. 27), Jennifer Zamorelli as assistant director for the middle school musical, Scott Simons as a core substitute at the high school, and several spring assistant coaches. The superintendent also said some coach appointments (Brady Knoll, Mr. Knight and Carrie Taylor) would be pulled for separate consideration.
A motion to hire 'Brady' (referred to in discussion as Brady Knoll) was seconded and carried after a roll call in which Knoll registered an abstention and other members recorded ayes. The board separately approved Mr. Knight as a volunteer track coach.
Trustees approved an unpaid leave of absence for Amanda Lyon so she can serve as a long-term substitute in the Canton South Middle School art classroom; the superintendent said Lyon will retain paraprofessional seniority and return to her paraprofessional role when the assignment ends.
The superintendent also noted that Teresa was to be listed as a 5.5-hour paraprofessional rather than a monitor in personnel item A2; board members agreed to that classification change.
Outcome and next steps: Personnel motions were voted on in open session; staff will process hires, leaves and classification changes as approved by the board.
